On Mother Language Day, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee voiced her disapproval over the labeling of a Sikh officer as 'Khalistani,' questioning the rationale behind such terminology
Banerjee expressed solidarity with the Sikh officer, emphasizing that his Punjabi heritage should not be conflated with extremist ideologies, and drew a parallel to the potential stigmatization of Muslims as 'Pakistanis'
The Chief Minister condemned the act as an attempt to defame Bengal and urged against the unjust portrayal of individuals based on their ethnicity or religion
